Our story began in 2014, building a microcamper for ourselves in a small garage. We worked during evenings and weekends, enjoying a practical escape from demanding jobs and looking forward to travelling around the UK and Europe.

The first camper had barely been finished when a friend asked to buy it. More requests followed, both from friends and from people who had seen our campers out and about. What started as a personal project became an opportunity to earn a living doing something we enjoyed.
That was the beginning of HabCert.
The name comes from “Habitation Certificate”, reflecting the importance we placed on safety from the start. We returned to college to gain the training and qualifications needed for our work, so that our builds could be properly inspected and certified.

Before long, people began asking whether we could also service and repair their caravans and motorhomes. With the training and qualifications in place, we expanded into mobile servicing, inspections and repairs.
HabCert Today
Our mobile engineering services operate from bases in Sudbury and Huntingdon, with an additional engineer working under the HabCert name in the Midlands.
As the business develops, we are investing in training, supporting engineers and extending what we can offer our customers.
Training Through MCCT UK
We have established MCCT UK—Motorhome, Caravan, Camping Training UK—to help people develop the practical skills and knowledge needed to work on leisure vehicles.
Further engineers are due to attend training, with plans to work under the HabCert name afterwards. This supports the gradual development of our engineering network and coverage.
The HabCert Rated Engineer Scheme

In 2023, we introduced the HabCert Rated Engineer scheme to help customers understand which qualifications an engineer holds and the areas of work those qualifications cover.
The scheme gives customers clearer information when choosing an engineer and encourages engineers to continue developing their skills and qualifications.
Making Parts and Products

We have also invested in 3D printing, laser cutting and CNC machinery. This allows us to manufacture bespoke components and offer replacement options for some parts that are difficult to source or no longer available.
From our first camper in a garage to the services, training and manufacturing we offer today, HabCert continues to develop around practical skills and the needs of caravan and motorhome owners.
